Giovanni's Trattu in Dupont... Anyone been?

Since I have given up noodles/ pasta for Lent (yes, what was I thinking, I know), I am already looking forward to overloading on it once this horrible period is over... :o)

And, in that vein, since I sort of obsess over it, a friend recommended trying this restaurant, but I can't find anything on here about it... so... is it worth checking out?

  1. I've never even heard of this place or seen it. It's in Dupont?

There is *nada* on Chowhound about it... but just found some reviews on Yelp?

I'd be interested in hearing if it's any good. I've never even heard of it. I wonder if it's still open for business. Under their "celebrities" section (gag!) they have an incredibly outdated photo of Christina Aguillara and one of Catherine Harris (listed as FL Secretary of State...and btw is she a celebrity??)

    2. Giovanni's is indeed still open. It's on Jefferson, which is below the circle, if you were walking down Connecticut you'd take a right at Bertucci's.

I've only been once but it's got a sort of old-school italian family atmosphere to it. I had an antipasta salad and veggie lasagna, and they were both great. It's definitely worth going to if you're in the mood for pasta.

      1. It's been years since I've been... at the time I thought it was good Italian with a quite, intimate feel to the restaurant. It must be doing something right if it's been around this long....or it has cheap rent!

        1. Any updates on this place?

I went back in February and it was really quite good, very refreshing atmosphere for DC, as described in previous posts.
