Hello fellow chowhounds!
After just returning from a 15 day cruise to Hawaii, I feel the urgent need to return to a sane
way of eating. Can anyone recommend their favorites or point me in the right direction?
Thanks!!

  1. Le Commensal is the main one you can find all the pre-packaged stuff from in the grocery store. They have a couple locations around town. Aux Vivres is a vegan restaurant that is located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Mont-Royalish, 4631 St. Laurent. There's also Chu Chai, at 4088 St. Denis, where they do a bunch of tofu meats (and tofu/veg dishes) Thai style. There's another Asian place just off St. Laurent going east on Sherbrooke, they have a buffet... but I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.

Lola Rosa in the McGill ghetto is also very good.

You'll find more vegetarian restos listed in the Montreal section here:

    2. Try a BLT sandwich on Chapati pan at Les Vivres on St-Laurent Street or if you want to try a special place, try Spirit Lounge on Ontario Street (vegetalian). Soup soup on Duluth or St-Viateur and Olive and Gourmando on St-Paul are doing great vegetarian soup and sandwichs. And if you want sometimes to eat at home, www.odeuxsoeurs.com is doing very great vegetarian meals.

I was very disappointed the last time I tried Spirite Lounge...the food was bland and mushy and their schtick about not finishing what's on your plate is pretty preachy and obnoxious, if you ask me.

            Hi,
It's to pick up. You can see the menu each week on the site but you can also pass command by phone. The best it's to call, and reserve and say when you will pass. But they also deliver at home one time a week. It's not a restaurant. Everything is cook there with natural and fresh ingredients. They have very great vegan asiatic meal, soup, ... The price are very good. About 7 $ for a complete meal. I have go there a lot of times and the chef and owner is very friendly. Call! I do provision there frequently. You can freeze the meal if you want. Hope you understand, my english is not very good...
