ISO Broiled scallops: Malibu / Santa Monica / Venice area

Any recommendations for a place that serves 'em up for dinner?

The Reel Inn across from Topanga State Beach serves some lovely scallops in a "beach shack" type of environment. Definitely casual but the fish and tasty side dishes are hearty and prepared simply. Tra Di Noi on Cross Creek Road also has a wonderful scallop presentation.

although somewhat out of your geographical area, the most recent 'WOW experience" i've had with broiled scallops has been at spagos.

I don't know for sure, but you might want to check the menus or call for daily specials at The Lobster, and at Ocean Avenue Seafood. These are both good seafood restaurants in Santa Monica on Ocean Avenue, although I can't personally attest that they have broiled scallops all the time.

You might also check the restaurant in the hotel Casa Del Mar. I haven't been, but they've recently opened as a seafood place.

In Malibu try Geoffreys, Moonshadows, Charthouse and Allegria. Or, for a more casual seafood place, try Malibu Seafood.
