I'd like to try to make oxtail stew, but can't seem to find them anywhere. Any suggestions on a butcher in Mid-City/Westside Los Angeles that sells oxtails? Thanks.

Koreatown Galleria's market always has a great selection. It's at Olympic and Western.

Any market that caters to a Hispanic community will have oxtails: Vons at SM Blvd and Barrington for instance.

Most Asian markets will carry it. Used to be that oxtails were considered "peasant food" and inexpensive.same as with beef tongue, chicken wings, etc. Not anymore. People's tastes have changed?

I was at Hannan Chain this past Saturday and they had a special on them. I think it was $3.99/pound and they looked fresh.

Hannam Chain is in Koreatown, on Olympic, one block west of Vermont.

Sam's Club also carries them, but may vary from store to store. Yes, asian markets and have seen them at Ralph's as well.
