Stroopwafel in Philly

megmosa Feb 26, 2008 10:44 AM

In case you have never had a stroopwafel: It is a Dutch dessert that consists of two thin, crispy waffles with caramel in the middle. It is amazing...I have never seen it where I live in San Francisco (not fresh anyway) and I still dream of the warm one I ate in Amsterdam over a year ago.

I am moving to Philly soon and I was hoping that maybe, just maybe, it would be possible to get a fix there.

Any leads?

DiBruno's in center city also has a packaged version.

We've been much happier with the one Zabars in NY carries than Trader Joes. Cant remember the name tho. It was such a treat to go down the street in Gouda for fresh stroopwafel.

My mother in law is from Holland and would rave about the ones there, but alas we've only ever been able to find the pre-packaged versions at Trader Joes around the holidays. :-(
