White Castles off of I-95

HeidiCT Feb 26, 2008 09:23 AM

We will be coming down 95 from CT headed over to Lancaster county PA and I'm looking to see if there are any White Castle's that are located within easy driving distance's from 95.

My DH raves about them, since he grew up in NJ, and I would love to suprise him with a treat on our trip. We aren't going till September of this year, but I like to plan early!! lol

Thanks!!! Heidi

Also, just wanted to say that I have checked the White Castle website, but it's hard to tell if they are doable from 95 and which one would be best.

A short detour would take you to one on Rt. 9 in Sayreville, NJ. Get off the NJ turnpike in Woodbridge, exit 10?, take Rt 9 south for about 5 mi. When you hit the Ernston Rd. exit get off, go back under the bridge to Rt. 9 N. and 1/4 mi on your rt. you're there. I'm sure other posts will list easier WCs to find but keep this in mind, just in case. Eat a suitcase of sliders for me will ya?

I think there is a closer one off that exit right in woodbridge.

      BUT...and a big BUT...

why not take him to the ULTIMATE nj "white castle style" burger place.....White Rose System.

Yes! Or White Mana! You must be old! I think she is paying homage after watching the comedy White Castle. Right Heidi?

Yea, but if Heidi is the movie fan, it doesn't matter, but giver her the directions to Highland Park. I have 2 of 5 kids that are 25 or older. Can you believe I left NJ in '65?! Joe Thiesman sucks!

he does, but it's either say I'm from the boyhood town of Jon Bon Jovi...(where I went to HS) or say I'm from where JT went to HS (where I live now!).....I pick JT!!!! hahah.

Go Bombers Go! I was responsible for erecting the old bill board in front of SWMHS. Then you know Covello's. Bon Jovi, the apartments across from Sayrewoods. My dad went to SR. Perils of Pauline was filmed at the old train station where the tracks croos Washington Rd., Edison's The great Train Robbery was filmed at the old Duck's Nest. And..... the Sayreville bar is going down hill w/ the new management.

Passadumkeg - No, actually, my DH grew up in NJ and has fond memories of White Castle. He always says that if we are ever near one that we have to stop so that I can try a fresh, real slider and not what you can buy in the frozen food section at the grocery store. All though the movie was cute also!!!

Now you guys have me wanting to go to other places instead of White Castle! White Rose? Mmmm, you know we have to go north to get back to CT, so we could have White Castle on the way down and then White Rose on the way back up. Or Visa Versa.

Sounds like a good plan to me!! Thanks for all the help.

F77- Thanks for the tip on the google maps. I will look into it.

Ishkabibble- I did check the White Castle site, however, not being familiar with NJ meant that I had no idea on where to start looking or where any of those towns listed where let alone if they were easy off and back on the highway.

Have you tried the steamed hamburger joint in Meriden, Conn.? Not too dissimilar to a slider and a lot closer. I Can come up w/ the name if you need it.

          Bring up Google Maps.http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&...
Click on the find businesses tab and type in White Castle Restaurants.

There are 24000 locations. Shouldn't be that hard.

I would plug start and stop destinations in and then do the above and you can actually see those or detour to those along the route.
