Parkhouse Eatery - San Diego Breakfast

The coffee’s good, and the servers are very attentive. The place is casual, kind of homey.

The chilaquiles are tasty, with good texture. The tortilla chips are crisp, and it’s very cheesy. But it’s not spicy at all…. no you don’t understand…. not spicy AT ALL. You need to pour the Cholula sauce on it. They don’t have Tapatio.

But if you do pour the Cholula sauce on, it’s delicious. And for those that don’t like spicy, all the better for you.

It comes with a black bean cake on top, which is basically black refried beans pressed and formed into a hard little patty the size of a hamburger and then fried. This didn’t really do anything for me. It was a little dry and not seasoned.

But you get plenty of food without it. I only ate a few bites of the bean cake, and I still couldn’t finish the rest of the chilaquiles.

I thought it was great, and I’ll definitely be back.

  1. My favorites there are the turkey chorizo, the breakfast pasta (linguine, eggs, roma tomatoes, lots of black pepper, and some sort of onion, scallions I think), or the sundried berry pancakes w/ a side of the chicken sausage. I also tried a bite of a friends blue cornmeal flapjacks and they we quite good. Everything we've tried there for breakfast has been great so far, but I was less impressed with the dinners.
