Dim Sum

I'm looking for a great Dim Sum place in the Baltimore/DC/Northern VA area. Any recommendations?

There is a place in Chinatown that has decent dim sum but unfortunately i can't remember the name of it! It's on the opposite site of the street from the metro stop and it's about a block or two down. I think it says "dim sum" in the window.

In NoVa, China Garden is good but Marks Duck House in Falls Church (right off of Route 50) is the best.

Oriental East in Silver Spring in my favorite for Dim Sum.

I second Oriental East. I think it's much better (and fresher) than Hollywood East and New Fortune

I agree with AlexDer and MarcDC--Oriental East is the real deal. It's the best dim sum in the Wash Metro area hands down. Most variety, best quality, and freshest dim sum.

Everyone certainly has their own opinion when it comes to what the "best" is - it's a subjective measure. I personally happen to like New Fortune and Hollywood East more than Oriental East, though not by a lot.

But some things can be objectively measured, and Oriental East doesn't even compete in the same league as New Fortune for "variety". The mere size of New Fortune allows them to offer an unbelievable variety of items.

For dim sum, I'm a huge fan of New Fortune in Gaithersburg... 16515 S Frederick Ave
Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Great dim sum off the 270 corridor. It's always worth the Saturday or Sunday trip (I live in Baltimore).

I also like New Fortune, but my current favorite is Hollywood East Cafe on the Boulevard in Wheaton. (University Blvd. between GA Ave and Viers Mill)

New Fortune (Gaithersburg), hands down! Be sure to try the rolls with shrimp and banana, sprinked with white and black sesame seeds -- but only when they're HOT.

I've also been happy with Silver Fountain (Silver Spring).

You can also search by the individual restaurants named in those threads.
But you won't find the words "great dim sum" appearing too often in any of them.

My only experience was near Rosslyn metro. I don't have a name, but we got there early and there was a long line before they opened. It was very nice and the fact that this semi-hidden restaurant had such a devoted following seemed to speak volumes. Anyone help with the name?

You're thinking of China Garden in the 1100 Wilson Blvd high rise. Best dim sum I've had in NoVA so far.
