Jazz in Philadelphia

Hello Foodies. This is my first official post and I thought it should be a meaningful one. I was in Philadelphia this past weekend and uncovered Ortlieb's Jazzhaus in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. Located in residential area of the city, Ortlieb's has fantastic house Jazz band including a gentlemen "Sid" who has his Gold record sitting next to him while he is on the piano. The food, very New Orleans-esq was fantastic (I highly recommend the ribs as they fell apart and had a little kick to them) and the ceaser salad with amazing jalapeno fried polenta croutons. They also had crab cakes and jambalaya that folks said is amazing. Check them out at http://ortliebsjazzhaus.com. To boot, it was rated one of the top 10 jazz clubs in the country by Playboy and have been known to have famous musicians pop-in after playing in Philly to the likes of Harry Connick Jr and others.

I highly recommend this place...

Happy eating!

welcome to the board! i live a couple blocks from ortlieb's and it's always a treat to go relax in there. i usually eat at the bar; love to get jimmy's rockin shrimp and their crab bisque, which be forewarned is less bisque-y and more maryland-y than you'd expect from its name. awesome though. service is top-notch and it's just a cool space. the house band is terrific, too.
