New Color Scheme Just Arrived - What Happened

What just happened. The load time was less than a crawl, then when the boards page loaded the background was not white but light beigey-pink.

Anyone else all of a sudden get this.

Sorry, there are about a zillion threads on this issue, and I haven't managed to reply in all of them with this update.

The front page issue is with Engineering -- it's definitely a bug on our side -- they're working on fixing it. In the interim, the Oatmeal color scheme, while uglier than usual, is much more readable than the red color scheme. If you haven't already, I'd suggest changing to Oatmeal, at least while viewing the front page. It's not perfect, but it can be read.

If you're seeing wrong colours on any page other than the main 'chowhound.com' page (that you get when you click directly on 'boards' in the nav bar), please try refreshing the page or clearing your cache and then reloading. If neither of those work, please copy and paste the address of the page you're having problems with and let me know what it is so I can follow up.

For anyone reading along who didn't realize you could switch colour schemes, I've attached a picture of the 'theme' switcher. Just click on the little beige-y coloured button to switch to Oatmeal or the red button to switch to red.

Thank you Jaquilynne! Refreshing and everything else you have suggested just does not work for me. :-( Been doing all that since day one.
I've been in Oatmeal for a couple of days, but it's not my fave.
Hope the Red returns ASAP.....

Are you having problems with more than just the front page, Gio? Or it is the front page only?

I'm trying to distinguish between reports of some intermittent problems with a variety of pages showing up with the wrong background (clearing cache, etc, seems to help with those), and reports that pertain only to the front page being consistently the wrong colour (clearing cache, etc, doesn't help with that).

Yes, Jacquline. Just the front page. The Board pages seem to be OK.
When I finish reading a thread and click on the front page, that's when the very dark color happens.

If it is just the main board, you can click the arrow on the boards link and use the hot posts instead of the oatmeal theme.

I'm using the lighter color scheme and having the same problem, but only on the main boards page. It's not terrible, but the text is a little harder to read on the beige background as opposed to the white it used to be on. I tried loggging out, clearing my cache, quitting my browser and returning and nothing seems to remedy the situation. Using FF 2.0.0.12 on a Mac. Here's a screenshot of the affected area.

Yup, deja vu all over again. the refresh button works to correct though.

Refresh is only fixing it 50% off the time here. Wtf?

For me Refresh does not fix anything. I want the Red Theme and I ain't got it. Bah Humbug! This oatmeal color makes me ill.

Refresh, clearing cache, clearing cookies, log out and back in, - nothing works.

I'm not getting the pinky-beige today but a very dark/almost black-burgundy with black lettering which is totally unreadable. I've had to exit the site then return to get the red theme I like.

LOL Jfood! I've tried that. It does work, but leaving and coming back makes me think I have control over how much time I actually spend here. It's only an illusion, though.

Wonked again once this morning then de-wonked, then wonked, then de-wonked. Sorta grabs your focus at the beginning of the day. Seems to have a mind of its own with which color you get, somtimes peachy, sometimes white. Actually is a lot of fun. Hit the refresh icon and poof instant color change.

More important is when will the "New" icon not getting refreshed problem get fixed?That is the bigger question.

I noticed it a while back. I clicked on the oatmeal theme button, and it went away. But then it came back. I get it when I click on Boards (for the latest posts), but not when I click on a specific board to view its posts.

I hope this is just a glitch and not a real change. The beige makes the text harder to read.

Nothing's changed for me. Maybe try clearing your cache and see if that fixes it? Sometimes the style sheets can get a little wonky.
