We are eating in Coral Gables next week and need a trendy/upscale/ lively restaurant. Of course, good food is also important. I made reservations at Cacao and Por Fin. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Also, what is the opinion on Quattro on Lincoln Road in SOBE?
Por Fin has been taking forever to open. They may finally be doing a soft opening this week, I haven't had a chance to peek in to see. There's one post on this board from someone who got an advance preview which was positive, but the place is literally just getting started and if you're going next week I'd expect some things to be shaky.
Cacao is upscale but I don't know if I'd call it trendy or lively, though the food is interesting, updated contemporary pan-latin.
Probably the place in the Gables that best fits "trendy/upscale/lively" (and may also have some of the best food) is Ortanique, which does "nuevo-caribbean".
I have not heard much that's good about Quattro (haven't been myself).
I really don't want to like Quattro. However, of the half a dozen times I've been, it's never been bad. In fact, it's been quite good. The price points are high. Also, note that if it's truffle season, the waiter may try to sell you the whole truffle menu like it's a second hand miata.
I've had primarily seafood and salads there and have been quite pleased. Desserts are delicious and it's uber chic.
