Not your average business dinner

italophile Feb 25, 2008 01:04 PM

Hi there, I am from Boston and I'm coming into town for a presentation...we're taking our clients to dinner afterward and I'm looking for recommendations. I guess what makes us "not your average..." is that we're all late 20's/early 30's and work in the creative industry.

I'm looking for something that is not uber-fancy or expensive, but that is a treat for our clients and a nice night out. BUT, want it to be relaxing and more comfortable than a NAHA or Blackbird type restaurant.

Does this make sense? For instance, if you're at all familiar with Boston, I would say I'm looking for an Eastern Standard/Great Bay/Via Matta type place.

I think Sepia would be right up your alley. It has a much warmer feel then Blackbird, but still provides great food (albeit not quite as good IMO), and would compare favorably to Eastern Standard. www.sepiachicago.com Enjoy your trip!

Just posted this a few days ago about slightly alternative business dinners.

To add, after hitting up River West/West Town restaurants cocktails can be had at quite a few places. A couple blocks from West Town Tavern (see prior post) Five Star Bar is a great fancy dive bar--can't explain it any other way--they have a stripper pole in the back. Depending on night you can also get great DJ and casual hipster vibe at Sonoteque (also a couple blocks). Embibbing establishments near May Street Market, (a very quick cab or 5 minute walk over a bridge) takes you to famous (from OCeans 11) Emitt's Pub. Also Funky Buddha Lounge or Butterfly Social Club for loungey hip-hop. And of course, my very fav dive bar, Richard's Bar. You can walk straight thru from Grands to Milwaukee Aves at this gem behind Emmitts. Enjoy
