Ditto on the recs given. Capital Grille and Peabody are close by. Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott are further, but divine locations for a party. Shingle Creek is supposed to be on Par with the best hotels and resorts in Orlando (Omni, Ritz, JW, Peabody), but I haven't been there.

Haven't heard much about it. DH and I have been meaning to try it. It is at Pointe Orlando, just down I-Drive from the Convention Center.

So, besides Capital Grille and Peabody, there are no other classy places less than a mile from Convention Center? We will check out Shingle Creek- how close is it to Peabody?

They are slowly re-vamping I-Drive, to cater to the money brought in by the convention center, but a lot of the restaurants that are currently there, are just over touristed, in my opinion. Also, if you're looking to host 150, you would need a pretty big space, so you'd either rent the restaurant, or go to a hotel property with banquet space. There are a few very classy places nearby (Capital Grille, Oceanaire, Ruth Chris, Cristini's, etc, but unless you plan to rent out the restaurant for the night, I'm not sure where else to send you. I think Moonfish has a large PDR, but I don't know how many they seat. Hope this helps a little. :) and I hope you find what you're looking for. :)

Guess depends on how much $ you want to spend. Capital Grille is right there and I know they have private dining, although not sure how big of a space. Shingle Creek Resort is right there and nearly brand new, I think they have great space for that kind of thing... There's a lot of touristy stuff in that area, but they are re-vamping some, such as Pointe Orlando, with some great restaurants and shopping. With that big of a party, you may have to pick a hotel/resort with that kind of banquet space. JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton are close and definitely do a classy job with great food, but maybe a few miles away...

I agree that with that size you should be with a resort. JW Marriott, the Ritz and Shingle Creek are all great choices.

What is Shingle Creek? Is it nicer than Peabody (that is where I am currently staying)?

Shingle Creek is a resort property, near the convention center, just past all the congestion on I drive toward the Beachline Rd. It's newer than Peabody and is very nice, however, I haven't have a function at either property, so I'm not sure how well either one of them do for events such as the one you're hosting.
