From New York, Need Advice!
I am going to be in London towards the end of the weeks, staying near the Gloucester tube station. If you had to pick one restaurant to have dinner at in this area, what would it be? Thank you in advance for your picks.

Thank you for the recommendations so far. Robin Joy, I'm glad you mentioned that food in that area is going to be pricey. Where usually while traveling, I don't worry too much about the cost of the food, I am a little more concerned this time considering how weak the dollar is. I guess I would be willing to travel if it was cost effective. I also don't need anything fancy, just a great experience in the cuisine of London.

If cost isn't a factor, Blakes Hotel used to (and I hope it still does) have fantastic food. We had a most marvelous dinner there a few years ago. I used to stay in that neighborhood and found the best choices were on Old Brompton Rd. The Bombay Brasserie is right there, too, and you won't go wrong eating there. Avoid the places in the Waitrose mall at the Tube stop... chains and not very appetizing.

Best to have many opinions, not just mine, so this site might help. I suggest you use the Tube Station drop down option on the left of the home page:

Very close to Gloucester Road station is The Bombay Brasserie which is good. Also consider Scalini in Walton Street, 5 minutes by cab. There are a number of budget alternatives, but in that part of town anything good is going to be pricey.
