Orchard Market and Cafe (North Baltimore)

ko1 Feb 23, 2008 12:38 PM

The wife and I went for lunch today. Stuck in a far from thriving shopping center off of Joppa Rd, inside it was nicely decorated with Persian rugs and bas reliefs. We split a dip of eggplant, beans, and walnuts with garlic and curry. The curry does not have the usual curry taste, it seemed like a more traditional spice blend. There was lots of garlic in this. I found it delicious but some might want to beware. I had a pita sandwich of veal tongue, scrambled eggs, and mixed greens with curry. Amazingly good, the tongue was so tender that its consistency mimicked that of the eggs On the side was a sauce of yogurt, cucumber, dill, and garlic.
Jane had the filet mignon and provolone pita which the waitress recommended and she enjoyed but I didn't taste. With 2 glasses of Persian tea, the bill was $25 plus tip.
Oh,BaltoEllen, all the feta dishes featured the Bulgarian stuff.

Ahhhhhh....thanks for letting me know that they have the good stuff & thanks for the great review. I think that Orchard Cafe is exactly the sort of restaurant that you forget about until someone reminds you that it's still there and still very good.
