Simple Bistro a simply perfect experience

A friend recommended we dine at Simple Bistro last evening(Fri. Feb. 23). I couldn't have been more pleased with the recommendation. Apon arrival we were welcomed into a pleasant room, an interactive crowd all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I loved the Salad of roasted red and golden beets and well dressed spinach. The chipotle aioli, accompanying the perfectly cooked Steak Frite, was delicious. The recommended Merlot was a superb match.
Desserts were OK, not memorable.
We were so impressed with the proffesional service of the two attentive wait staff, we introduced ourselves to Thomas and Jim. After gushing about our meal and the service,it was brought to our attention that Chef Masiyuki Tamaru, formerly of The Fifth and JOV, is now heading the kitchen!
This has to be the most enjoyable dining experience I have had in a long while. I will definitely return often, and highly recommend to all.

      Mount Pleasant. Former home of Lolo, and... um... something called Scoozi Cantina.

        No problem Googs. Masiyuki Tamaru is one of Canadas finest! I forgot to mention how reasonable this great meal was...cocktails, 3 courses and wine...apx $150.00 including tip.

        How did you find the noise level? This was an issue when I took my Mom there... But overall, I have to agree with you on the rest!

          Masiyuki truly is one of our most underrated chefs!! His food is so beautiful, I can't wait to enjoy his cooking again. Is this a new venture for him? Or is he the employee of some very lucky restauranteur? Either way sign me up!

              i heard that they have a very good younger cook who is actually to be noticed soon. And word has it the lady chef had a disagreement with the owners. but this is the one of the best little bistro's in toronto.

                They need to update the Chef Database.
