Mildred Grosberg Bellin, author of mid-century Jewish cookbook classics "Modern Jewish Meals" and "The Jewish Cookbook" (and my grandmother), died on February 15, 2008, age 99-1/2. Here is a link to a post about her on the Food Media and News Board, where any comments should be posted:

  1. I have been looking for this cookbook for years. Your grandmother, Mildred Bellin was a close friend of my parents. They met my parents in Jackson, Mississippi, where Harold and my father, Isadore ( Itzie) Schwartz were stationed as US Army Medical Corps officers. There is a recipe in this cookbook for coffee cake, and my mother, Ruth Schwartz, was given credit for this recipe. In fact, she was the only woman whom your grandmother gave credit in her book. If you have a copy of the recipe, could you forward it to my email (atnyshareholder@yahoo.com).
Thanks so much for your help.
