        <content>Does anyone know what those absorbant pads are called,that   markets use under pre-pack meat, fish, chicken, etc to grab draining fluid?  Extra thanks if you know if they're sold retail/quantities smaller than "a ton". (g)</content>

      <content>I don't think there's a specific name for them, they're just called absorbent meat pads or absorbent packaging. Quick google search found this:

      <content>Thanks, both of you.  I haven't searched heavily to see if small quantities are available, but I was wondering if my local supmkt might sell me some so I guess I'll try that first.</content>

      <content>You should go to a foodservice distributor for this and see if you can buy by the case.  If you've got a business license, this shouldn't be a problem.  Any Sysco, USFoodservice or other major distribution house should have them readily available.  

PS - the stuff inside the packet actually is the same absorbant material used in diapers </content>
