Dinner place near 43rd and 6th...

My husband and I are coming in for a rock show Saturday night, and just are not familiar with this part of town. We tend to avoid the Times Square area, cause frankly, that many lights are just kind of freaky. :)

Nothing too fancy (ie we will be wearing jeans), but tasty, fusion-y, good, not run of the mill... Any suggestions would be great! We'd like to be able to walk to the show within 15 minutes.

    Bryant Park Grill, perhaps.

Mama Mexico is on 49th off Third Ave. Very good food and lively, casual atmosphere.

BXL bar isn't fusion-y in the slightest, but is very casual and has great beer with surprisingly good food - my favorite french onion soup in the city, for one. Plus, it's on your block.

A little further away, and maybe more along the lines of what you're looking for, Hell's Kitchen, on 9th ave between 46th and 47th, for fantastic new Mexican in a fun atmosphere with great drinks.

Bryant Park Grill does have a lovely setting, especially the terrace area during the warm weather months; however, unfortunately, the food is mediocre.

I would suggest Wu Liang Ye, on 48th, b/t 5th & 6th, which serves very good Szechuan cuisine. Menu on menupages.com.

Edited to add: For Turkish, there's Akdeniz, on 46th, b/t 5th & 6th. I've not been, but there have been positive posts from Hounds who have.

Definitely Akdeniz, good food at very moderate prices and totally casual.
