My wife's birthday is coming up and I planned on making reservations at Armadillo Beach. We were relatively frequent customers at Armadillo Cafe so this would be a nice treat. Then I came across some reviews for La Brochette Bistro and now I'm having second thoughts about my plan.

Has anyone out there been to both or feel particularly strongly one way or the other. Both menus look interesting, the pricing is similar, and they're both about the same distance from Boca so I'm looking for insight on quality of food, service, and overall experience. Or if you have a better suggestion by all means let me know. Here's my criteria:

-Between West Palm Beach and Coral Gables.
-Dinner for two with a bottle of wine and tip under $225.
-We enjoy all different types and styles of food but put a premium on quality and good service.
-Decor and view are not so much an issue although this is not the time for us to try your favorite dive.

Thanks.

We went with Plan B - Saporissimo in Boca. It's been our favorite high-end restaurant for years but we only go maybe 3 or 4 times each year.

We split one of the pasta specials for an appetizer, Karen had the elk loin and I had the venison osso buco along with a nice primitivo. For dessert we split Pastiera Napoletana along with complimentary glasses of limoncello. The food was excellent as always and the owners (Giancarlo and Ana Maria) always make us feel like friends of the family.

Of course that still leaves me with the need to try Armadillo Beach and La Brochette Bistro. Our anniversary is coming up in April and I'm pretty sure we're going to La Brochette. So many restaurants...so little money!

Any thoughts Chowfather?
