Woo hoo! I just got my Minnesota Monthly with "Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl on Food" ...haven't read it yet, but I thought I'd give y'all a heads up so you can go check your mailboxes... http://minnesotamonthly.com/media/Minnesota-Monthly/Twin-Cities-Taste/ Rachel Hutton http://articles.citypages.com/2008-02-20/restaurants/nick-and-eddie-the-new-neighborhood-hangout/ and James Norton http://articles.citypages.com/2008-02... are up and running in City Pages this week, too. So much media, so little time.
Thanks for the heads up DQ! I moved to CO from Mpls 12 years ago, but have always kept up w/ Dara's column through CP online. She is my hands-down, all-time favorite food writer, for her fresh, irreverent writing and undying love and support of local foodways and little mom-and-pop joints over the years. I was shocked but pleased to hear that her talent and accumulated accolades (JB awards etc) have brought her to bigger and better things. Have you checked out her stuff in Food & Wine? She strikes a much more sophisticated tone in FW, which I liked, but I will miss her wicked spot-on humor and gentle ribbing of Midwestern idiosyncracies. She is a true gem. If anyone is interested in checking out Dara's past columns, a complete catalog of her work at CP is available on her personal website at www.daraanastasia.com.
That's where she went?? And to think that when I renewed my MPR membership yesterday, I checked the box to forego the magazine.
Ohhh, look, an article on life after Peeps. There's your quintessential St. Paul contrast: the annual Peeps diorama contest and the handmade marshmallows, etc., that we find at Golden Fig.
And do we have it right that she seems to have swapped places with Rachel & James? They are writing for City Pages now, and she is writing for Minnesota Monthly?
