Sadly - our quick and easy and friendly go-to place for mid-town dim sum is closing forever! We're sad to say goodbye to tasty food, reasonable prices and the very friendly staff. First Tai Pan, then King's Garden...now PP.

To be honest I went there a year ago for lunch as I work in the area and it was recomended on chow and I was not impressed. First there was only one other customer (bad sign). There was nothing special about the food and I found it bland. Cant remember what I ordered but was probably the lunch special.

it was their dim sum that was good. now where do we go for dim sum?

See that is the problem with places.. I tried them at lunch and was not impressed so would not go back for dimsum. If you are open you alsways have to be at your best.. or you close...

I'm sure you are right in certain circumstances, but in this case they didn't close because they couldn't stay in business. They closed because they were ready to retire. They had a pretty loyal following in the area.

Aww. I am new to Toronto and I was quite impressed with the food I had at King's Garden. Too bad it's gone now. I need to look for a dim sum place in downtown (south of Bloor) for my association sunday brunch. Any good recommendations? I am looking for something in the mid range, comparable to King's Garden.

Not sure if it is too late for a recommendation.....Lai Wah Heen is just south of Dundas. Very high end but apparently delish.

Wow, that really sucks. This was one of our favourite restaurants. Don't know what we'll do without their crystal fold, crispy honey and pepper chicken, or black bean lobster. My wife and I have also made a Christmas eve tradition of having dinner there (for like at least the last 15 years).

What happened? The first I heard of this was when I open my North Toronto Post last night and your posting is the only thing I have seen online. Any idea if they might reopen?

No, they are not reopening. The owners have decided to retire after many years in the business. The building has been purchased. It does not look like it will be another restaurant going into the premises either.
