I too am also interested in bottled sauces....

Now that I know what pasta to buy based on the earlier thread, am in search of a good bottled sauce. I usually make my own sauces, but in a pinch have been using Trader Joe's Marinara Rustica. I thin it with a little red wine.

  1. Many bottled tomato sauces have too much sugar in them. I look for the ones with the least sugar or no added sugar at all in them. Don't overlook the canned sauces either. Surprisingly the supermarket house brands tend to have the least or no added sugar.

Then I just brighten it up a bit with olive oil, fresh garlic, fresh herbs and whatever meat, mushroom, peppers or onions I'm in the mood for.

    1. Pomi makes a nice marinara. Usually available at Trader Joe's at a really good price. Low sugar content (maybe none) and made with Roma tomatoes. I dress it up with more garlic & olive oil, etc. It comes in a cardboard box.

      1. Newman's Own Sockarooni, two jars, then throw in a 15-1/2 oz can of chopped tomatoes, rinse the the jars out with a good splash of really cheap wine and dump that in the pot too.
