Sun. breakfast/brunch before 10:30?

I'd like to go for a terrific breakfast or brunch before I head out of NYC. I'm staying in the Financial District so places around there or West Village would be great (I'd like to get in some shopping in that area). I noticed that the best places seem to open at 11:30 am. Any recommendations for places that open earlier?

Thanks for the suggestions--appreciate it. I am going to the Mercer on Sat so am looking for something a bit different on Sunday, perhaps ethnic like Asian. I'll keep digging. Thanks!

The only place I know is early (buffet starting early in the a.m.) is at the Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park. Super expensive - used to be about $60pp. Resto name is 2 West.

Also, I know Ulysses opens at 11:30, but the brunch is totally worth it. Especially if you are hungover.

Blue Water Grill in Union Square opens at 10:30 for brunch on Sundays.

I know it isn't in the Financial District but if you could swing it, Red Flame Diner is a super one right next door to Algonquin Hotel at 41st.

Respectfully, in my opinion, the Red Flame is not worth going out of your way from downtown for. It's just an average diner.

The Odeon at 145 West Broaday opens on the weekend at 10AM (just checked). It was a legendary place in the 80's (google it). The food is still good and the service is surprisingly nice. It would be a fun option for you and is not too far from where you are staying.
