Thai Snack: Mien Com (?)

  • s
  • 4

Have also seen it spelled "cum" one place on the internet, but don't want THAT in the title of my post! The Thais I've talked to all pronounce it "Com".

I'm sure lots of you have had this . . . little bits of lime, dried shrimp, coconut, chilis, sugar, sauce, peanut, etc. all folded up in a little pandan leaf (I think) burrito.

One of the most divine creations ever. My problem: Can't find it in LA. At Kruang Tedd, they have a version they call "spoon food," but it's just not the same without the little leaf packages . . .

At Silom market in Hollywood they told me that they have carried it before, but not regularly.

Anybody have a secret source? Thanks!

  1. I've had that. I love that. In a restaurants...

where... where... once in San Jose, but once in LA, and it was great... wracking my brains...

It's either Palm Thai in Thaitown or Renu Nokurn in Norwalk, but one of them has it.

Thi, you're my hero. Those are our two favorite restaurants these days, I'll definitely look for it! Thanks!

    2. If I'm not mistaken, the last time I had it was at Sunshine Thai restaurant on Western in Hollywood. Call directory for phone # and exact address. I think its just south of Santa Monica.
