Good Vegetarian Restaurant near Soho?

I am visiting NYC next month and would like to take my vegetarian brother out to dinner withour having him fret over whether chicken stock is in his vegetarian entree, etc. Any delicious vegetarian restaurants in or near Soho? Or restaurants that are kind to veg-heads? They can be Health Food Store casual or formal- just not into Indian spices. Thanks-

Gobo on 6th Avenue for sure...Red Bamboo is great, not as fancy. Blossom is not too far out of the way (chelsea). Wild Ginger is pretty good too. I think Kate's has gone downhill. I've heard a few negative reviews from Angelica's lately. Depending on when you are coming, a new restaurant called Broadway East is supposed to open sometime soon. I've also had some really good meals at Sacred Chow.

Gobo is amazing and it has a nice hip yet casual decor. Definitely my favorite veggie place in the city. (Its in the West Village... a few blocks from Soho.

I just had lunch at Woo Lae Oak in Soho and this Korean restaurant is not strictly a vegetarian restaurant but they do have many options that are vegetarian friendly. If you are looking for a modern, stylish atmosphere and good food this restaurant might be what you are looking for.

south of Houston there's not much choice till you get down to Chinatown (5 blocks south). There Vegetarian Dim Sum and Buddha Bodai is good. Can't think of much else solely veg.

Above Houston by a few blocks there's plenty:
Pukk - Thai veg, related to High Line, hi tech and yummy mock duck & basil
Counter- fancy veg and organic, but hasn't been great the last few times
Vegetarian paradise- haven't been here in a few years, but was good then
Red Panda
Caravan of Dreams- mostly hippy veggie food, but some people love it
Angelica's Kitchen- generally good quality, nice setting
Kate's Joint- like veggie soul food, better for brunch
Hampton Chutney Co.- lots of veggie south indian rolls, but you can find something there non-indian spiced

I think Spring st. Natural is pretty awful in being clueless about what's actually in their food.

I'm sure there's more further west, but I have an E. Village bias
