They called today and canceled our reservation in March.
When I went to Open Table to make another one on another day there is a message that the restaurant is unavailable.
What gives?

It's been rumored to close almost continually since the employees bought the restaurant from the family who owned it. Not sure exactly when it went co-op, but it was somewhere around the end of '06 I think. Sad, but not surprising.

Oh well -- back to Ouest for me! (not a bad decision, hey?)

I for one, will miss it, although it was not the same after the Pujol family left.

I agree that this closure is sad. One more old-timer gone. We have fond memories of great meals at Rene Pujol over the years. Unfortunately, the last one, lunch during the summer, was just so-so, and the restaurant itself seemed a bit dreary. Definitely not what it was during the Pujol ownership.

It broke my heart when Pierre au Tunnel, founded by another of the Pujol brothers, closed a couple of years ago. My father's factory was down the street, and I had been going there since I was a small child.

Sad to see these old classics going.
