Crab Cakes

Where is a good place in the DC metro area to get Crab Cakes? Closer to Crystal City the better.

  1. My favorite crab cake sandwich is at CF Folks in Dupont Circle. It is perfectly made and not overly expensive.

Another great crab cake platter or sandwich can be found at Market Lunch inside Eastern Market.

Widely deemed to be the best crab cake in DC, a position I support. Only open for weekday lunches. Sitting at the counter or inside is recommended for at least your first visit - I sort of don't want to reveal why. There's outdoor seating when it's nice. They also own a burrito place across the street in an alley, though I've not been to that since if I'm down there I can't resist going to CF Folks.

The crab cake is a regular on the menu, but they put together some great special dishes by the day.

Just to throw out a couple of different options for the OP, I believe the name is American Seafood, which is in Arlington behind Arrowine - to either eat there or cook yourself at home.

For a small weekend outing, drive down MD Rt. 5 to Thompson's Seafood Corner to pick up extremely well priced, very good cakes to cook at home; and for that day specifically, first drive down almost to PAX and have lunch at Clarke's Landing.

    1. I know the best place! I ship them to my sisters in FL...

      1. If you want non-MD style crabcakes, the Carlyle doesn't do a terrible job. I wait and get my crabcakes in MD, but I actually liked these, for non-MD style and for the fact that they didn't try to be MD style and then desperately fail me...
