Babbo Recs

Hi everyone!

I had one of the best meals I've ever had in my life at Babbo about 3 years ago. I haven't been back since, but much to my delight and suprise, my boyfriend snagged us a 6pm reservation for Satuday, March 15th. I know I'm jumping the gun a bit, and will probably post another question for recommendations a week (or so) before we actually go, but please let me know what is the best on that menu these days? We were thinking about going a la carte: 2 appetizers, 2 pastas, one entree (?). I have to get the Lamb's Tongue Vinigrette again, since that was the single best dish I've ever eaten. I also remember the beef cheek ravioli as being fabulous. So, what other appetizer, pasta and entree do you think we should get? Or is the tasting menu definitely the way to go?

Thanks for all your help!

*oh, also, my boyfriend is allergic to mushrooms, but I desperately want him to have a taste of the Lamb's Tongue. Do you think it would be a mistake to get the mushrooms on the side?

the waiters will push you to go a la carte and we thought about it for a good 10 minutes, but came back to the pasta tasting menu because the dishes offered in the tasting menu were more interesting there. I think this is even more pronounced in the regular tasting menu.

My fav dish was the beet ravioli.

Here's a link for a very similar question:

It's recommended by many 'hounders to go a la carte.
