underbaked bread

I'm an okay bread baker, but in cutting into tonights loaf, realized it was a bit underdone...I like the flavor of the bread, is there anyway to salvage it? I'm thinging I can maybe put it back into the oven for a bit on a low setting? thanks

  1. perhaps if you toast the slices before using them? I tried putting underbaked bread back into the oven a few months back, and it just ended up rock hard....

    But I would think the toaster could work... Or you could make a big batch of croutons?

      Toast is a good idea, also grilled sandwiches, croque monsieur, rafts in onion soup...french toast...
      Alton has a good way to test loaf doneness: a thin thermometer probe should read 200-205F.
