Knife Sharpening in SW CT

Does anyone know of a place that sharpens knives in southwestern CT or in any part of the state? I have a chef's knife that has a small chunk out of the blade and I'm looking for someone to grind it down and re-sharpen it.

  1. there is a great place in Norwalk, I will have to check and advise the name... is located on route one... it does all the restruant blades and cooking school knives in the area.... ill have to check it out and advise.... john

    1. I think there's a guy who goes around in a van to all the local restaurants and sharpens knives. I went to the shop when it was on Cross Street in Norwalk, but that has since closed. You could try calling him...R J Mase, Knives & Cutlery Retail at 1 Testa Place, Norwalk, CT 06854. (sorry, I don't have the number) They could probably tell you how to get your knife fixed/sharpened.

      1. Thanks, I'll look into that.

I used to bring all my knives to RJ Mase when I was in culinary school. They did a really nice job and were pretty inexpensive.

        2. I sent my Henckels to Holley Knives - they're in CT, but it doesn't really matter where you are - they send you a Fedex box, and return them to you in about a day, I seem to recall. Did a great job. And they return them with some really nice sleeves. Cost was reasonable (looks like it went up a little since I did it last - it was $35 for 3 knives when I did it - might want to email them to see if that's still possible)

Holley is such a great service, but recently their website has been down, so I'm not sure if they are operating still. I need to send my stuff off and am looking for a replacement service.

          2. If you have a Big-Y store in your area, they will sharpen them for free in the meat department.
