In the last 24 hours, I've heard three people mention Tip Top Thai (in Teele Square, Somerville) as a "very good thai restaurant." My only visit was on a first date (House of Tibet closed for an event that night), so naturally, I remember nothing foodwise.

This morning's Somerville Journal blog has a remarkably chowhoundy entry as well: http://blogs.townonline.com/somerville/?p=29641

Is anyone willing to give a report? I'm curious about the story of this place; it's flown under the radar for years, seems to do good business, and has cute four-year-olds doing homework in the corner.

I recommended their noodle soups in the past but, as I posted recently, they've gone way downhill. Some of the dry noodle dishes are good (crazy noodles) and I like their shrimp tom yum. I don't remember anything out of the ordinary about curries/stirfrys. Not bad, mind you, but I just don't feel compelled to go any more.

My experiences there have been mixed - some things are ok, other dishes seemed freakishly sweet. I haven't been for about a year, instead getting my Cambridge side of the river Thai fix at Sugar & Spice.

I remember the food being perfectly competent but after a couple of way-longer-than-advertised waits for takeout I haven't bothered to return.
