Vietnamese on Westside

  • m

Sorry if this has been discussed already (I'm new), but are there any good Vietnamese restaurants in west L.A.--or anywhere closer than Orange County? I'm in search of great Vietnamese egg rolls. I kow of one place on Santa Monica Blvd., sort of near the Royal movie theater, but there must be more....

I posted a long review of Red Moon a couple of months ago. There's also Pho Bac Huynh on Wilshire and Granville in the Mishima centre... mixed reviews (I like it.)

You can also get pho and bun at Noodle World on San Vicente and Montana in Brentwood and at Noodle Planet on Westwood Bl. in Westwood.

i've also been searching for a good vietnamese place on the westside but unfortunately have been very very disappointed. i've been to both red moon and pho bac huynh (just for their pho and spring rolls) and although both are decent, they definitely don't come close to places in o.c. (what is the name of the place on santa monica by the way?) if you are willing to drive to chinatown, there are a couple good places ~ pho 87 on broadway & bernard and pho 79 on broadway & ord (although their fresh spring rolls suck). there is also a chain in koreatown called pho l.a. (one is on 6th and ardmore) that are pretty good considering (and definitely better than either place on the westside).

The name of the place on Santa Monica and Federal is Le Saigon. We never go there because there are only a few tables and it takes forever to get one.

There's also a bunch of Pho shops in Van Nuys if you find yourself up in the Valley... centred on Victory and Sepulveda, there's one next to the 99 Ranch and one across Sepulveda (I thought it was Pho 79 but it might be Pho 88 or Pho 666 or Pho 3.1415926535...)
