How much you want to bet they heard about it from J.Gold?

I went there a couple years back when I was on a big torta tasting spree (I don't recall exactly what I ordered, but highly doubt it was the milanesa since I rarely get those). I don't remember it standing out as more exceptional than others I was trying at the time. But the wonderful thing about tortas is they're cheap - give it a try and report back!

I went for lunch today and opted for the carne asada torta and not the milanesa mentioned in the article. I like milanesa and get it at Ciro's on Evergreen all of the time but, I've got this thing against breaded products sandwiched between even more bread.
The good: The bread was outstanding.
The bad: Not cheap @ $4.75 for where it is and what you get.
No beans, onions, crema nor chile roja which I'm used to on a torta.
It had yellow mustard on it which I'm not only not used to on a torta but, have no room for in my life. I like non-yellow mustard on hot dogs, sausage, pastrami etc... but, I don't want any mustard on my carne asada.
I'd go back based on the bread but, hold the mustard please!

re: JAB
Mustard? That's really funny. I don't remember that and it seems like it would be hard to forget!
Have you been to King Torta on Valley? It's pretty close to Cal State LA and County/USC Hospital. That was pretty much my favorite in that part of town when I was trying them out. The bread was really good there. They've moved into their own stand-alone building and I've only been once since that move.
I have to say my latest obsessions are huaraches and cemitas so I'm not totally up on the torta scene anymore - but good luck with your further explorations!
