French Toast

Where can I get some good french toast on a siunday around Noon, without having to wait obnoxiously long? Will be in upper east side (69 and Lex) but willing to go elsewhere to find it. Thanks!

My favorite french toast in NY has to be the almond crusted french toast over at Sarabeth's over on central park south. I've never been there around noon but you might get lucky.

Closest to you would be on the UWS (Neptune Room -- you can make a reservation).

I also like Pastis (brioche) or Jane (creme brulee battered). Those are in Meatpacking District and just north of Soho.

The Tasting Room (Nolita) has good french toast, too, but the focus is more on the seasonal fruit than the toast itself. I've also had it at Perilla, and it's quite tasty, and nontraditional, it's a brioche french toast with honey crisp apples. Not the best in the city but well done, and accompanied by a knockout raisin rum maple syrup compote.

All these places take reservations, BTW.

i think neptune room is the same as Jane (same owners, I believe). Also creme brulee battered and quite good. Rest of the brunch is also good, and it's one of the few brunch places on the UWS to take reservations
