Looking for things to add to soup

It's soup weather and I'm looking for dried peas, beans, lentils, barley etc to add to my winter soups. Where is the best place to buy this sort of thing? I've bought red lentils at Whole Foods before but the packets are so small that I can easily go through several in a week if I'm making large batches of soup to put in the freezer. Is there somewhere that sells them cheaply in bulk (or at least larger packets) and that has a good variety?

I'm in the East Village but willing to travel.

Thanks!

  1. kalustyan's (again) 28th and lex

    1. Buy the legumes in bulk at a health food store. My favorite is Integral Yoga on West13th Street, but I believe there's one around around 2nd and 1st Ave and 12th Street.

      1. There's a place in the EV, called Dowel Quality products, on First between 5th and 6th Sts.

        1. The EV has Commodities Natural Market
