Thai Basil in Greenwich?

I just noticed this new restaurant opposite the Greenwich train station and next to MacDuff's Ale House. Has anyone tried it?

  1. Just noticed it too and went last week. It was empty of diners on a weeknight, but lots of people came in and picked up takeout. It's owned by the same guy who owns Asiana and Penang in Greenwich. I ordered pad thai which I've had and disliked at Asiana (their version had eggplant and mushrooms), and at Thai Basil it was the standard version (and very good). My husband had a curry and liked it a lot, and we shared a grilled beef appetizer and it was quite good. It's nice to see sticky rice and mango on the dessert menu... since that Thai place on RR Ave closed, I haven't had any! Overall, Thai Basil was a solid Thai restaurant. I think Kit's Thai Kitchen in Stamford makes better food, but their room is less pleasant and it's not as close.

Food here is fantastic. We eat there at least once a week. The menu is more limited, but the execution is as good as (cult favorite) Sripraphai in Woodside, Queens. The food is very spicy.
