Breakfast Near- ish Oakland Airport

Hello Friends!

My Mother in law is coming into town this weekend on an early Sat. flight. We are planning to take her to Sausolito (Probably Sams) for a late lunch but before heading through the tunnel (or after, depending on your recs) we want to take her somewhere new for b-fast. I grew up in Lafayette, live in Walnut Creek, so I know all of the popular places for b-fast on our side of the hood. But, are there recommendations you would have for an informal, (not fancy or expensive) bay area-representative place for breakfast? We were thinking mama Royals, but that might be a little too Berkely for this Spokane Washington Mom:)
Thanks, all!
Sophie

900 Grayson just off 80 at Ashby. Unfortunately it is in berkeley but the chicken and waffles will make you forget you are in the most unamerican city this side of paris. God bless the Marines.

Thanks so much Owent and Busterdan! The MIL decided that she had stomach problems and refused any suggestions other than a grilled cheese at about 7 pm that night. ARGH, I never understand people who don't live to eat, like I do. Maybe when the father in law comes, I'll have an excuse to go to b-fast at 900 Grayson or Bette's (or Montclair!):) I need some new Chowhond-ish relatives!

You could check out the Montclair Egg Shop in Oakland's Montclair district. Or you could brave the lines at Bette's Oceanview Diner on 4th Street in Berkeley.
