Parco Cafe Nashville

Now that Parco Cafe is under new ownership does anyone know if they still serve wine?
Has anyone been there since the Fu's left?

  1. I haven't but a local review did not paint a pretty picture. The Fu's were Parco Cafe, and it seems that now it is just a similar restaurant trying to live off the Fu's reputation. Again I haven't been there since, but that is the word.

    1. Last night my husband and I went to Parco Cafe for the first time in 2 years or so. The Fu's, of course, set a very high standard but I think that the new owner is doing a very good job trying to fill their shoes. Everything we had was excellent! We started with the fried dumplings which were crispy on the outside and juicy with a wonderful ginger flavor on the inside. We also had a tofu and cheese (Gruyère i believe) appetizer which was served over a rich onion/beef broth. It was so incredible and reminded me of a lighter version of a french onion soup. Before the entree was served they brought us a cup of creamy pea soup and small side salad with a peanut dressing. Both were excellent! For our entrees we tried the scallops in a cream sauce around a portabello mushroom with a crab stuffing. The scallops were very tender and delicious and the mushroom and stuffing combo was a nice compliment to the scallops. We also tried the grouper which was cooked on shredded potato and served with a tomato reduction and balsamic vinegar reduction. Another excellent dish! The fish was cooked perfectly and the two sauces complimented the fish very well. The potato kept the fish very moist and cooked just enough without being over-done. For dessert we ordered a chocolate mousse (to go!) which was very rich and creamy and encased in a hard chocolate shell. mmmm!
      So, to sum up, I would highly recommend going to Parco Cafe even though the Fu's are no longer there. Mr. Fu has obviously done a good job training his student to take over. I have no idea why the food writer for the Tennessean gave it a bad review. Maybe he went on a bad day? Oh, and to answer my previous question (in case anyone was wondering) yes they serve wine. A full bar actually.

Having moved here from NYC 16 years ago, i have enjoyed watching the Nashville restaurant scene grow (although slowly) and now to go to this blog and read all your comments. What fun! I didnt even know there was a Parco Cafe! And this is the first time i've ever blogged...

          Thanks zkrg, it's great to hear that things are still going well with Parco under the new chef. I guess I'll just have to head back down the alley for another try myself, as your descriptions are more convincing than the review I read.
