Hi, West Coast Chows!
I am from the east coast and heading out to CA to visit. I love Italian food. Where do you go for a good but not too expensive place for pasta?
Thanks.

You simply must go to Vivoli Tratorria. It is by far the best. It is right on the corner of Sunset and Laurel Ave. in a teeny strip mall. The waiters kiss you on the cheek and the food is pure perfection. Be certain to get Nonna or Tartufo for dessert. It is little, but the ambience is amazing.

Terroni is fun, however my dish was beyond salty.

Ahhh, Vivoli is indeed quite good and a place I always forget to give a shout-out for.

        Hello everyone!
Got back last week from LA and ate at Vivoli - was wonderful. Staff is so friendly. Even on a Tues. evening, people had to wait for a table. Thank you all for your assistance.

More great choices: Enoteca Drago (on Canon in Beverly Hills) and La Terza (on 3rd and Orlando, East of La Cienega).

Angeli, as mentioned before is very good. It is just east of West Hollywood on Melrose.

It's a little outside of West Hollywood (I think it's Beverly Hills) but I love Carrera Caffe which is on LaCienega, 1/2 blocks south of Wilshire. Great Italian food and great bread. At night, you can park for free in the lot right next to it.

Angelino on 3rd St. (between La Cienega & Robertson)--about $10 and $17 or so.
              I think it's a gem--excellent food, cozy, unpretentious.

Ditto on Cafe Angelino. Awesome food...like dining in Italy.

Used to be good Italian in WeHo at a good price was near impossible. Now we have 2 darn good choices:
                Amarone

                Terroni

Angelini Osteria is a bit pricier but real good as well.

La Buca is further East, less expensive, and also good

I second the angelini osteria vote. Pizzas there are also delicious. Make sure to make a reservation.

terroni is good. actually these are all good recs.

i'll add angeli caffe, as well as all'angelo.

in beverly hills, i like il pastaio, and it has a good wine selection.

and just in case you head westward, in brentwood, pecorino is good, and less expensive than the also good vincenti... and in case you get all the way to santa monica, i'm a big fan of via veneto.
