Georgiana's, Pho Republique, Sage
Wanted to try a new place for lunch last Sat. and stopped into Georgiana's (I think that's the spelling) on Tremont St. in the south end. Thought about a gyro which that day was made with pork loin she said, but she brought out a fresh roasted lamb and said she could make me a sandwich. That sounded goodo so I had a french roll w/ a good amount of lamb, tomato and honey mustard. Pretty tasty, nothing too overly exciting but half a sandwich and some free girl scout cookies they had out filled me up. Sandwich and a bottle of soda was $10.31 w/ tax so not a bargain, but nice people there.
Last nite we started w/ drinks and an app at the bar of Pho R., where an older couple was being filmed eating their meal. Not sure what was up with tha. I went with the special "Love Portion #Pho" (I think that wsa the name) which had Stoli Peach, Champagne, not sure what else, for $9, tasty. Friend had the "Perfect Storm" which he thought wasn't strong enough. I must have gotten the sip with all the rum. We split the ginger and chicken pot stickers ($8.95) and those were great. 6 perfectly fried, light dumplings, altho I didn't taste much ginger. Bartender was very nice. We then sat at the Sage bar and he got a rosemary something martini and I had the Ginger Rogers but again, didn't taste ginger. Should have gone w/ wine cuz there was too lemony a taste to go with the food. We split the spinach polpetti w/ rabbit ragu from the main app. menu and stuffed peppers and duck confit from the bar menu. The polpetti were decent altho not overly flavorful, the ragu was nice. Stuffed peppers were long green spicy ones as opposed to regular green peppers that we thought we were getting. Spicy enough to be a pleasant surprise or maybe interfere with the taste of the other stuff. Sausage and veal stuffing was good, a deal at $6. The hit was the duck confit w/ white bean salad, great crispy skin, $9. We got choc. bread pudding w/ almond ice cream that my friend liked better than I did. I thought the consistency was kind of spongey and not so chocolatey tasting, the almond ice cream was great tho. Fairly quiet there, nice bartender. Two cocktails, 3 appetizers, one dessert and one decaf latte came to $61. They still have that 3 course $26 Mon-Thurs. deal, nice but not on the top of my list.
