Type 00 Pizza Flour [Moved from Home Cooking board]

Ora Feb 12, 2008 09:23 AM

Can anyone recommend a good source for consumer size packages of type 00 pizza flour? Online or NYC stores. Thanks.

Please limit any replies to mail order sources. For NYC suggestions, please post on Ora's Manhattan board thread, or post on the Outer Boroughs board.

King Arthur Flour sells it on their website, though it's called something else.

K-A sells 00 flour as "Italian-Style Flour" Item number 3338. $4.95 per 3 lb bag.

Thanks--I checked K-A first. They sell "Italian" flour, which they describe as a "counsin to type 00". I was hoping to find reliable source for real type 00 flour from Italy, if possible.

I did a quick google and found this. I assume you did the same.

        Is it too much flour?

Yup and Yup. Odd how this isn't readily available in local gourmet markets...Flour is a hard sell online for a consumer as it is heavy and expensive to ship therefore...

I agree. I recall a place on Arthur Ave shipping it but haven't found any 411 on that in my google searches.

Maybe an excuse to go to Italy?

I buy nearly all my pizza-making ingredients from them--including 6 in 1 ground tomatoes, low-moisture Grande mozzarella, and the best pepperoni you'll find anywhere.
