NOBU Malibu on a Sunday Night?

italiana3 Feb 12, 2008 08:14 AM

Hi All
Thinking of taking my out of town aunt to Nobu Malibu on a Sunday night. Will it be too sedate? I am looking for something with some atmosphere, after we visit the getty.

My guess is that it won't be that sedate. Locals (including, of course, celebs) often go out on nights when tourists might not be there. So Sunday could be better than Friday or Saturday, unless you're looking for the younger crowd.

not at all. I am looking for an upscale dining experience...with great food and atmosphere.

I think Nobu is a good choice then. Very good food and a nice atmosphere. You'll have great views at the Getty....but you could also make a stop at sunset along the ocean somewhere for a cocktail. Maybe Moonshadows or Duke's. Can't call either one an upscale dining experience....but I always like to take out of town folks to a beachside place at Sunset. Then you could just wander a bit further up the coast to Nobu for dinner.

I wanted to take her for a drink first. this is great info. Unfortunately the getty is closed during the end of March.

Which Getty are you speaking of? Brentwood or Malibu?

just my two cents, but nobu is often really loud, and not conducive to conversation at all. if it were me, i'd head back down the coast to The Lobster, or as suggested get a drink seaside, then go to Taverna Tony...
