lunch in denver, sweet spot

anita_cocktail Feb 12, 2008 08:13 AM

Hi there! visiting from NYC, looking for a lunch spot near the capitol/downtown/LODO.

Anything that can be construed as "romantic". This does not mean "fancy", it can mean a hole-in-the-wall bistro with cozy nooks and nice lighting.

Presence of wine a plus.

THANK YOU!

Is this for a weekday or weekend?

I wonder if Osteria Marco would fit the bill?

Bistro Vendome, Larimer Square. Maybe Panzano in the Hotel Monaco. Maybe even Prima in the Hotel Teatro; no cozy nooks, but the mezzanine has a nice feel to it.

I though about Bistro Vendome but I believe they only open for dinner during the week and brunch on the weekends. They would be good though. Maybe Le Central but not really downtown- although close - off 8th and Lincoln. Semi walking distance from the capitol.

Rioja is a good weekday lunch spot that is potentially romantic.

I was thinking that too, provided you can choose your table. Some spots in the room put you right in traffic's way; others are more private. Overall I don't think the layout's the most conducive to tranquility, which IMO is the only downside to the place, since the food's mostly terrific. Well, I wish the menu would change a little more often.

Has anyone been to brunch there? I keep meaning to go...
