Smoked Mullet in Tampa

trininva Feb 12, 2008 06:59 AM

I'm going to be in Tampa for one night (February 19) and would really like to find a place with good smoked mullet. I'll be staying at the Hyatt Place at 4811 W Main (not too far from the airport, I think). I won't have a car, but a 20 minute or so cab ride would be fine. Any type of restaurant is fine, from a hole in the wall to upscale, as long as they have a place to sit. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

I did find Skipper's on the board. That looks like it's only about a 15 minute drive my hotel, but if anyone has other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

No, it's actually called Hyatt Place - I think a cheaper version of the regular Hyatt hotels. Close to the airport.

Skippers is totally worth the drive.

Anyone ever try that fairly new Q joint on Fletcher that advertises smoked mullet?

From were you are staying, there really is no convenient (without a car) place for smoke mullet.
          Skippers, about 15 miles
The Crab Shack, about 10 miles
          Ted Peters, about 25 miles
There are lots of restaurants around the area of the hotel, with-in walking distance or courtesy van drive.
For seafood the Oyster Catchers at the Hyatt Grand is excellent, the courtesy bus will probably take you, or it’s a $10 cab ride (one-way).
