Informal (ideally cheap) Group Dinner and Drinks

Big group of friends (12+) going to a show at the improv. I'd like to grab something to eat / drink before the show. We're fine to metro to farragut (west or north). There will be some on a "student's budget" so I'd like to keep it reasonable for them. Just looking for a comfortable place to have something to eat and enjoy a drink or two.

Thanks

Malaysia Kopitiam on M Street is a great place to go with a group and is not that far away. The food is a bit more exotic than Italian but still accessible and great.

Famous Luigi's on 19th St. would be great for pizza and Italian.

vappiano's could fit the bill. i've heard really good things, although i haven't been (meaning to though). i've walked by and it has a nice set up. located really close to the improv on the corner of 18th and M (i believe).

Vapiano's is a good place to grab something to eat before a show. It's quick, inexpensive, and everything is made-to-order. I like their pasta with lime butter and mint and they have an appetizer of prusciutto and figs that's very nice.

Cafe Asia, especially if you will be there for happy hour.

That would be perfect, but it will be on a Saturday, so unfortunately, happy hour is out.
