There is no way jfood can limit his choices to one or two.
Here are jfood's favorites:
Blackened chicken wrap - The Lime (Norwalk)
Any hot sandwich at Giovanni III (North Ave in STM)
Cheeseburger at BSF (G'wich)
Almost any sandwich at Rosies (NC)
Chicken, cheese, avocado, slaw and herb mayo from Club Sandwich (NC)

The Hotsy @ Garden Catering (Cos Cob)
Bacon, Egg, Chili, Cheese. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Ham, Egg, & Cheese wrap @ Diamond Corner Deli (Norwalk)
3 eggs, multiple slices of cheese and ham. You won't want to eat until dinner...perfect way to get the most out of your Saturday.
Chicken Parm Wedge @ Rinaldi's Deli (Stamford)
The cutlets are fresh, the sauce gives it zing, the whole thing is toasted before your eyes. It just works.
Meatball Wedge @ Giovanni's (Stamford)
The meatballs have been braised in the gravy so long they practically fall apart in your hands. But that's OK, because the bread holds it all together. Closest thing to Arthur Ave. that we've got here in FF County.
Salmon burger @ Lime (Norwalk)
The healthy, wealthy, and wise go here. I am none of the above, but I still like the honey dijon dressing and fresh crunch veggies they put on this bad boy. Rice salad side is nice too. Much better for lunch than for dinner.
Steak Sandwich Bearnaise @ Gates (New Canaan)
Been eating this since I was 8 years old, and it still works. Nice piece of sirloin with sauteed onions served open-face on toasted garlic bread. The bearnaise is perfect...same stuff they use next door @ Bonne nuit.

Oh yeah jfood forgot Gates and will add another great sandwich from there, the Belaggio (sic) - chicken avocado mayo bacon. Mad Dog Russo also mentions this all the time on the FAN.

What Mad Dog Russo recommends is not exactly a ringing endorsement.
But I agree...the Bellagio is a good one.

Fairfield Foody: I have been looking for the best meatball wedge and I don't love what is around, although I like Belltown Pizza. I never thought of trying Giovanni's, can you take out? Which location? I grew up with a Scilian boyfriend and his Mom just made the best meatballs and no where else yet compares, and also the sauce( gravy ). Any other suggestions?
Rinaldi's is decent food but very dirty in the kitchen so I got very turned off the last time I was there, nice people but not clean enough for me.

Yes, this is a standard deli on North St., not to be confused with the steakhouse.
I get your point about Rinaldi's.
There is also a good Italian deli off of High Ridge Road...Fratelli's. Good Italian hero's. Also the Executive Corner Deli in Byram. Try the Vito Corleone hero. If you finish you get your picture on the wall. The only trouble is, you have to drive past BS&F, and it's tough to keep going.

I remember that Executive Deli, its been there for awhile? I used to live in Greenwich over 11 years ago. So I don't love Giovannis, I had the chicken parm and was not impressed. I will try the Fratelli because I bought some fresh pasta there and it was very clean inside, it was my first time and didn't look around but will try it. I want food like Grandmas used to make slow and good not this fast food fake stuff.

I wasn't blown away by Giovanni's chix parm either.
Had a good one over at Enzo's though on Hope St. Maybe they'd have a good meatball wedge?

next time at Giovanni's try the eggplant parm. Jfood does likes the chicken parm but once he tried the eggplant he was converted. Jfood also tried enzo's a couple of weeks ago and ordered the sausage and peppers wedge. It was very good and the owner threw in a free dessert. Nice touch.

BTW...here is a link to Fratelli's sandwich menu. I'm going for a Godfather today.

Bar none- Gorgonzola meatloaf wrap/sandwich from Winfield's on rt. 136 in East Norwalk. Usually prepped with shallot mayo and baby greens. They don't always make it, so you should call and ask when they'll have it on the menu.

Rosie's - oh yeah!!!

Curried chicken salad on to-die-for home-baked bread at Margot's in Stamford. Big chunks of white meat chicken lightly dressed with a subtle curry mayo with dried cranberries, raisins and nuts. Served with a side of red cabbage slaw. It's a big sandwich, so be careful to save room for a cupcake!

I agree - this is VERY good.

Agreed. She also makes a great prosciutto/mozzarella sandwich. Great soup too!

this is good to know. I went there for the first time the other day and wasn't very impressed. I had the roast beef sandwich. It was good, but really didn't have much flavor. Not much to write home about. My wife had the cobb salad and the chicken was so dry and tasteless it wasn't edible. The rest of the salad was great, but the chicken was terrible.
I'll have to try one of the other sandwiches. The prosciutto sandwich sounds great.

lobster roll at rowayton seafood is decent.
i like the meatball sub at giovanni's. sub at belltown pizza is pretty good, too.
A&S (stamford) can build a decent italian wedge for you.
burger at therestaurantthatmustnotbenamed is pricey but good. brennan's burger satisfies.
the chili dog at wedge inn (stamford) works for me. reminds me of new jersey when i was a kid.
