Anybody know when the former Wild Oats will reopen as Whole Foods. I know Whole Foods took over the Wild Oats change in an acquisition a while back.

According to Whole Foods Annual Report this year the Medford store is scheduled to reopen after a major renovation in the Spring of '08. If and when I hear of an actual reopening date I will post it for you. The Wild Oats in Saugus will remain closed permanently (I know you didn't ask but just in case someone wanted to know).

Mr. Mangia - Stop by and say hi to my husband Marty who works in Specialty at Fresh Pond next time you're in the store!!! The parking over there sure does get crazy so hopefully the reno will go quickly in Medford.

They have a huge sign on the Wild Oats, but it doesn't say much more than "Coming soon ... this Spring." It might mention April (not certain), but don't think so and haven't seen much change in the past week -- definitely not working around the clock to reform or stock it at this point.

I drove in the lot on Sat. and the signs said spring. The place looked like it had a ways to go (lots of exposed ducts etc.). One sign did indicate that the place will be much larger which is wonderful news.

that is great news. i always felt slightly depressed when i was at that wild oats location for some reason. they even had some things in their bulk section that i liked better than whole foods. i guess it was the fact that it was always kind of empty when i was there. i wonder if they will keep the starbucks ? it's funny to see a lot of the wild oats private label stuff (springwater, etc) that is finding it's way into the local whole foods.

Is the starbucks open during the remodel? I had heard it would but but haven't driven by to check. It is hard to imagine how it will be much larger, but I'm just hoping they improve the parking lot.

The Starbucks and the SavMor are open during the remodel.

Have you tired the Whole Foods in Woburn on the Winchester border? Since Wild Oats has closed, I've been making the trip out there as Fresh Pond is always too crazy.

yes, i do like the one in woburn. it is nice, new, & not as crazy. that parking lot is a bit small but i find it is best to park a little ways away and just walk over. i have a new car and don't need all the dings that i get in fresh pond.

Also check out River Street. Better parking options than at the Mother Ship (fresh pond) and on the way home, if you drive up River Street, you can stop into Coast Cafe for a restorative Jamaican patty.

Mmm restorative pan fried chicken. My favorite kind.

The parking lot at River Street Whole Foods is also completely insane. Actually seems harder to find parking there than at Fresh Pond.

I'm also partial to the Whole Foods in Woburn for easy parking.

i work in concord and sometimes go to the one in bedford which is way mellow compared to the other full combat style whole foods. my mom lives in virginia and the whole foods in charlottesville is so chill that people actually do not fight over the food samples !
