Austin's Best Happy Hour Deals
I am always looking for suggestions for great HH deals in Austin - wanted to share my favorite and encourage others to do the same. If you have the information, please post days/hours for the deals. Feel free to share other great deals as well. For example, I've always been curious to try the all you can eat stone crab claws on Mondays at Trulucks.
My favorite happy hour deal in Austin is at Austin Land and Cattle (corner of Parkway and Lamar). In the bar area (which is small, I wouldn't go here if you have more than 4 people in your group) Monday through Friday from 5-7pm they have a half price bar menu and $1 off all drinks. I wouldn't really go to the restaurant otherwise if not for the HH (it's out of my price range), but the deal coupled with the awesome food is enough to keep it at the top of my HH list.
Last time I was there I had the steak sampler, which is 2oz pieces of three cuts of meat - I think it was ribeye, filet mignon and sirloin - for $5.00. Their black and blue salad is also really good if you like super rare beef. Steak fries are crispy, better than what you'd expect, but not totally amazing. They have a huge list of by-the-glass wines and their sauces are great. Next time I go, I'm curious to try to the burger with the fried egg on top...mostly because I have trouble saying no to anything with a fried egg on top.
For people who don't want to shell out $$$ for a fancy "steak dinner" - this is a great alternative.
along those same line is Eddie V's....half priced appetizers from 4:30 till 7:00 weekdays. I think they have an all-night happy hour on Sunday, unless they've discontinued it. Great seafood appies....crab cakes, shrimp, oysters on the half shell, great steaks as well...
If you don't mind chaining it up at the Domain, The Daily Grill has a great happy hour. They have about 8 small dish items for $1.96 and six more that cost $2.96. The items range from mini crabcake sandwiches to chicken pot pie and tuna sashimi.
Drink specials are a little more expensive, but they make a good Mexican martini for $5 during happy hour.
