MSP - Help me find a butcher!!
Hi All,
I am in need of a good butcher - the catch is that they need to be able to go in the back and cut me up some meat - not just have a bunch of vacuum-packed meats in the meatlocker (a rarity nowadays). Special order is annoying and I'd love to avoid it if at all possible.
Specifically, I need to be able to get Beef Brisket POINTS, not FLATS (which are the only thing I can find in TC thus far), and pork bellies. Not your normal everyday cuts, I know - but that's why I'm asking!
I've tried:
All the chain groceries (Byerly's, Cub, Rainbow, Kowalski's)
Von Hanson's
...any help is appreciated!

My family goes to Mackenthun's in St. Bonifacius. A real, bona-fide butcher. Good people. Call first to see if you can get specific cuts. Then get in the car and go! It's a ways out there, but worth the drive. They also have fantastic hotdogs, jerky, and hams that will make you forever scorn the ham-offerings of your local supermarket.

Thanks! I've been wondering about this, cause I moved to the MSP area from Ann Arbor, MI, and good meat and produce in that much smaller area was very easy to find. Seems more like a quest around MSP.

re: prindleeric
try clancey's (above) for local, grass-fed, artisanal, charcuterie
any of the co-ops for organic & free-range meat, poultry, lamb

the wedge in particular has a good sustainable butcher counteri believe you can generally get usda prime at the counter at lund's
ready meats (ne), everett's (s mpls), & mike's in st paul are good regular butchers that should do custom orders & cuts.
